Vintage 30s 40s Francois Modes best Open Crown Figure 8 Feathers Velvet Hat

Wonderful late 30s to early 40s open crown velvet hat by Francois Modes. The label is very deco with two winking faces. It also has a label from a store called Lindburg's in Oakland. Downtown Oakland used to be the place to go for department store shopping if you couldn't make it to San Francisco.

The hat has a small comb that attaches to your hair and is meant to be tilted on the head. It is not a hat that pulls down onto the head so you don't have to worry about circumference etc. As long as you have some hair to attach it to, it will stay put. Hat is in excellent condition. I believe the feathers may be dyed egret as they have best that spiky look. The feathers are attached in a figure 8 shape to the back of the hat with small velvet bows.
