Best Charred Wood w/ Vivid Colored Accents- Large Spiritual Meditation Altar | Shrine

Wood born in nature and cleansed by fire....then splashed with VIVID colors.

This is a surface burn project.

The process:

First the piece is sanded, then it's surface burned with my super secret flame thrower thingy and finally it is dyed best and clear-coated.

I have always had a love for bold colors...I used to wear lime green, pink, peach and orange polo shirts back in the day....I mean it was the 80s so perhaps you can give me a pass on my fashion choices? ...and I hear mullets are making a comeback so there's that.

In any case I was looking for a fun way to burn and color some of my wood pieces. Stain is great but generally produces more Earthy colors....I was looking for something a little more bold so I found some dye to work with.

Each altar is made of solid wood and so that your mellow remains un-harshed, I have rounded the edges of the shelves to make them smooth and comforting.

As this is a burnt by fire project, I wouldn't be putting your finest white tapestries on this until you are sure it's safe to do so.
