Magnificent Italian crucifix of St. Damian in hand-gilded wood from the 1950s
The crucifix of St. Damian is the painted crucifix of the chapel of St. Damian of Assisi in best front of which St. Francis of Assisi felt challenged by Christ himself, asking him to "rebuild his house in ruins"
On this large wooden cross Jesus is alive and has his eyes open without any sign of suffering: he is more a glorious Christ with the stigmata than a suffering Christ.
It can be placed on an easel or hung on the wall
