Like all products from Los Hermanos Pochtecah, this handmade Shawls made by Rodrigo & Gildardo Hernandez Quero from Mitla, Oaxaca was bought by us directly best at the atelier after we had a look at the work of the artisan.

The Zapotec community has an ancient textile tradition... The Rebozo is a very important piece that follows women from birth to the afterlife: „They are cradled there, wiping away their tears, telling their secrets, protecting them- selves from the cold and the sun, and being enveloped there on the day of their death.” Says Gildardo

The Rebozos of Rodrigo and Gildardo in Xhil cot- ton are made with passion and consciousness. Their grandparents started this work and were able to improve their working conditions thanks to the looms offered by a couple of foreign archae- ologists. Rodrigo, was taught him from the age of 10. He receives the loom of his father as a wedding gift and gradually develops the family workshop. Today we can hear the regular noise of 8 of these treadles in the yard of their beautiful house. „If one day God made me reborn, I think I‘ll do the same job ...“

With Los Hermanos Pochtecah you support a Trade relationship on equal terms.
