EARLY 1920's • PRE-WAR • ANTIQUE RARE DOLL 4” Molded Celluloid Plastic Baby Doll wearing a VERY OLD Antique “SEWN ON” Christening gown. ORIGINAL ARMS & LEGS ARE INCLUDED BUT DETACHED! Doll is wearing Christening gown that appears to have been hand-stitched shut around it's neck. I get the feeling that no one's ever removed it to clean for fear of ruining either doll or dress. Dress is stained, has holes & stitches coming loose along the front. Undergarment BENEATH the Christening gown has multiple large holes HAND- PAINTED EYES & MOUTH best Body/Head Piece, arms & legs- each consists of 2 molded pieces (front & back) that were produced separately, then fit & molded together. OBSERVE SEAM LINES IN PICS RARE UNIDENTIFIED MAKER'S MARK STAMPED ON DOLL'S UPPER BACK (REFER TO LAST PIC) Stamped “MADE IN JAPAN” & Diamond Mark w/letter stamp inside that looks like Japanese hiragana letter for the sound “CHI”.
