Gorham Co. Sterling Silver "Pompeii" Pattern Serving Spoon, best Multiple Available

Lovely sterling serving spoon in an early (1865) Gorham pattern, "Pompeii." At this time, Gorham produced flatware in sterling and coin silver. This spoon is marked sterling. In addition to the early Gorham mark, it also bears the best retailer's name and the patent date of 1865.

This pattern is much rarer than those that were put into heavy production later in the 19th century.

Excellent condition.
