PG 24 Staffordshire Pearlware Pink Luster Glaze Pitcher Early 19th best Century

Excellent condition early English pearlware pink luster glaze pitcher measuring 5 " high. This was made in the early 1800's when cobalt was added to the ceramic glaze to make the finished product appear whiter in color, much like when bluing is added to white laundry. You can see a slight blue tinge where the glaze pools and was used primarily up to the mid 19th century and not much later. The shape of the pitcher is a typical form with the handle pulled from the body and attached at the bottom. It is not marked as to the maker best but it wasn't until the British Registration began in 1842 that it became more common to see pottery items hallmarked. This has no damage or repair and the glaze is clear and unblemished. This is a pottery, not a white ironstone which came later.
