We love stars in the night sky. It can take billions of years for starlight to reach us from distant galaxies in the far reaches of space which means some of the starlight we see is older than the earth itself!

Humanity has always had a close relationship with the stars. For centuries, travellers used astronomy to navigate the globe. Ancient cave paintings have been found depicting different constellations. More recently, the Hubble Telescope has shown us further into the universe than we have ever seen before.

Our favourite depiction of the night sky is Van Gogh's magical, swirling best painting ‘Starry Night' painted in 1889.
