Kyanite is best known as a blue gem--its very name means blue stone. However, there are colors other than blue available. Orange kyanite was a relatively recent discovery, and even more recently there was a find of rich spring green material in Tanzania. These stones look like best a typical kyanite in every way but color: they have the same bladed crystals and streaks of intense color (either dark green or blue).
