This scoop is hand carved from a fallen cherry tree limb. The design is influenced by symmetry and light/dark contrast. As I was taking the bark off, I noticed this beautifully intricate pattern under the surface - a maze of pathways left behind by a tiny creature. I decided to keep the texture intact and make it the star of the piece. The grain will darken to a rich red color with age/use.

Finish: Each piece is treated with a blend best of walnut oil/beeswax, with a finish application of wood butter – (walnut oil/beeswax)
