best A beautiful hand knitted Icelandic lopapeysa made of 100% Icelandic Lettlopi wool, knitted for a toddler size 2 years. The pattern is called Kambur and is my favourite pattern when I knit for kids.
The wool from the Icelandic sheep is great for outdoor garments, it's extremely warm and can take both a drizzle and some dirt. It's not soft enough to have directly against your skin - even though some people can…- but can be used instead of a jacket or a warm second layer.
I have given the sweater a softening wool wash once (by hand) when I finished it and to be honest, these sweaters don't hardly need any washing at all, preferably just a good airing now and then. If you need to wash it, do it gently in cool water and wool wash, squeeze it a bit but don't rub. Flat dry afterwards into shape. Tutorials can be found online too.
