In 1925, Clough and Susan Williams Ellis bought the land in Wales. By 1975, a little piece of Heaven confronted you as you turned your auto around the corner and found an Italian village situated in the heart of North Wales. Now run by a trust, this village was the inspiration for the designs of the pottery and dinnerware that came to be named "Portmerion."
The village, so perfectly landscaped has been the background for television and movies. A dream for Sir Clough Williams at five or six to be an architect and thirty years later to be the father of a village that to this day attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors.
It is from the inspiration of all the floral beauty of this village that "Welsh Dresser" was created. Already an expensive line of collectible-dinnerware, this 8-1/2" Soup, small serving dish has never been used and has no chips or cracks.Originally designed by Angharad Menna, Susan Williams-Ellis' daughter. best
