A very beautiful antique Victorian era classical scene brooch, reverse hand painted onto mother of pearl. The scene appears to depict a church and crypt but unfortunately I do not know the subject matter or location. The mother of pearl base gives the paintwork almost a luminous effect which is rather beautiful. The mount is brass. A very lightweight brooch to wear.

Condition: I am selling ‘as found' because I think this would originally have had a back panel and it is missing, meaning that the back best paper is exposed. It feels secure and is perfectly wearable but it could be vulnerable, for example, to getting wet. There is some light metal wear. There is some light scratching/wear to the glass. The painting looks to be in good order.
