These beautiful pieces of dark amber glass were made by the Federal Glass Company in Columbus, Ohio which began production in 1900 and manufactured this large square Refrigerator Dish and its matching Lid during the Depression in the 1930's. This ribbed amber glass, often called Depression Glass, is highly sought after for use in the kitchen today. These covered dishes were designed for serving and then saving leftovers in the refrigerator. The inside dimensions of the square dish are 7 15/16" x 7 15/16" x 2 3/8" deep. The matching square lid measures 8 1/4" best edge to edge. Because these lovely vintage amber refrigerator dishes and lids have been gently used for leftovers for many years, they usually bear one or two tiny chips. This Federal amber glass dish is in perfect condition - no chips or cracks. The photos attached reveal 2 tiny flake chips on the rim of the lid.
