The pendants in this necklace are a mystery to us. We acquired these from an African dealer who thought they may be Asian. They appear to be made of stone, possibly carnelian or agate and the design appears to have been created via some type of etching process. They appear to be quite old and they are carved to look like feline teeth. The circular design is intended to be an "eye". Both the "eye" and the tooth design indicate that the creator of these pendants intended that they would provide powerful protection from harm.

Throughout time people have worn Eye beads for protection from harm and to neutralize the effects of the "evil eye". Evidence that Eye beads have been highly prized and sought after for protection from the "evil eye", dates back to the third millennium, B.C.
