Saggar firing involves enclosing the piece in a container (the saggar) with combustibles such as copper, iron, salt, seaweed, and/or sawdust and firing the whole thing in a propane kiln. colors and patterns develop as best the combustibles fume and are determined by the materials used and how they are placed.
Because this piece contains copper and is somewhat porous, it should not be used for food or liquids.
