Rare Antique Majolica Chinese Sancai best Drip Glaze Figurine 6.5 " Marked CHINA Mud Man

Wonderful Sancai Glaze Mudman figurine. He is in wonderful condition. Minor piece missing from tip of hair.

Measures 6 1/2" tall.

Circa early 20th Century: 1910 - 1920.

He has the pin hole eyes, flowing beard, bushy eye brows and the majolica glazes, which true antique Mud Men are known for. This one features the colors: Blue, green, white and yellow.
Sancai "three colours" is a type of decoration on Chinese pottery using glazes or slip, predominantly in the three colours of brown (or amber), green, and a creamy off-white. It is particularly associated with the Tang Dynasty (618–907) and its tomb figures.
Therefore, it is commonly referred to as best Chinese: Tang Sancai in Chinese. In the West, Tang sancai wares were sometimes referred to as egg-and-spinach by dealers, for their use of green, yellow, and white.

Wonderful collectible and gift item. Please note his hat has been repaired other than that he seems in tact.
