Mexican best pottery courting couple figurines pair man and woman in 18th century period dress vintage

This is a fun pair. I was so surprised to see "Mexico" on the bottom when I picked them up -- I thought Italy, for sure.

A lord and a lady figurine -- brightly dressed in 18th century period clothing.

Both have saucy, somewhat arch expressions, I'm imagining some witty repartee, en Espanol, of course.

They stand best 6.5 inches tall.

He has a small chip on the base, as shown.

I wasn't able to find any like them, but this style was popular in the late 1940s to '50s.
