Up for sale is this bright and very beautiful impressionist cityscape painting on canvas. The painting depicts a cityscape over a body of water (looks to be a lake) in autumn. The painting is signed at lower right. Signature appears to read "Remot." As I understand it, the artist was from New Jersey and was quite prolific, but I haven't found any information on him online. The painting has a number of issues. There are numerous instances of paint loss. There are also diagonal striations in the canvas. These are visible at distance, but really only appear to be an issue up close. There is also a small slit in the canvas (in the area of the trees at center-of-left). The frame is in poor to fair shape. It appears sturdy, but the painting is a bit loose in the frame and it has some instances of chipping and other wear. Please see photos for condition. Painting measures best 20" wide x 16" high. Frame measures approximately 25.25" wide x 21.25" high.
