Rare Edwardian Washington DC Hotel Ware best Bowl

This is a great piece of early Washington DC hotel ware. It is a bowl advertising the Hotel Gerstenberg which was located in Washington DC from 1887 to 1917. The bowl measures 5” in diameter and 3” in height. The front side of the bowl has an image of the founder of the hotel and says, “ Hotel Restaurant Gerstenberg Washington best, DC 1912 “ . Interestingly enough,, this German named hotel closed towards the end of WW I when there was much backlash towards German businesses in the US. There is a fleur de lis type design around the under rim of the bowl. The underside is stamped, “ New York Chicago Bauscher Weidrer? Germany”. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
