Every pot is waterproofed. They are safe to put plants in and water them. My only caution for you is that you don't leave them in standing water. Let your plants drain after you water them, and your best pot will last for many years.

Never put terra cotta pots in the dishwasher; never use dish soap or household products when cleaning terra cotta pots. Only use Luke warm water and a cloth towel.
