Celtic best Heart in pewter

Celtic heart in pewter metal. This is a lovely Celtic Heart design which works very well with this traditional metal repousse craft. The design is carefully embossed into the lead free pewter sheet by hand which takes me quite a few hours of work. I then strengthen the design by filling the wrong side and bring out the detail by patinating the metal and polishing.
The picture is carefully mounted and framed in a black wood frame. The frame measures 30x30cm and the inside picture 11x11cm.

Each piece is made entirely by hand and therefore has its own individual qualities. I start with a piece of high quality lead free sheet pewter. The metal is carefully worked and sculpted from the back and front using various tools to bring out the 3 dimensional design. The technique is know as repoussé, which means to push the metal.
Once satisfied with the design it is filled from behind to give strength to the metal and then the metal is carefully patinated. After much polishing the design becomes beautifully highlighted and it is ready for mounting and framing. best
