from Central Presbyterian Sunday school
The image is an illustration by Clara Elsene Peck
who worked in the Golden Age of illustrations
and was a contemporary of Jessie Wilcox Smith.
The certificate was professionally framed
under glass by a local frame shop
and the image is beautifully preserved
It came from a lavish estate
of a dramatic jazz singer who was James Mashburn's wife.
He grew up to be a doctor.
