This kurinuki chawan (Tea Bowl) was carved by hand best out of a solid shaped block of low iron fireclay. It was then glazed and fired to Cone 10 (about 2350F, 1287C). The clay is completely vitrified at this temperature and can safely be microwaved and washed in the dishwasher.
