Antique Heart-Shaped best Needle Holder

best Early 20thC Shaker Needle Book

I got a few early 20thC sewing items from a Shaker collector years ago that I will be listing.She told me that this piece was from about 1920.

Measuring 4 inches long by 3 3/4 inches wide, it is treadle-sewn. The exterior is a very fine black velvet over cardboard trimmed in pink silk ribbon.

The interior boards are covered in the same pink silk. The needle “pages” are made of a very fine wool with satin floss fancy work edges.

Condition is very good. There are one or two nips out of the wool needle pages . It was like this when I purchased it and there have been no others.

I love this piece for its unusual contrasting colors of pink and black. It makes it really stand out in a collection.
