Best Heatseeker, Well it's Jesse Michaels from the Classics of Love you know Stellar chap His father was.
Well, it's Jesse Michaels from the Classics of Love you know. Stellar chap. His father was a writer. Named the Classics of Love after a reggae song that he heard in a dream, don't you know? In addition to the Classics of Love, he also fronted Common Rider, Big Rig. He fronted Operation Ivy. An articulate, thoughtful, enigmatic artist. I didn't care too much for Op Ivy when they were first shown to me by a ska-loving girlfriend. That I reminded her of this bloke proved a point that stuck in my head long after the demise of our relationship. Somewhere along the line, I got around to revisiting Op Ivy. As I was getting older, I grew impressed with the clarity of youth-optimism that Michaels never seems to have lost the ability to express despite age and the multitude of disillusionment that comes from being a lowly citizen of such an empire as the United States. I only grew more impressed, going on to discover his writing with the other bands. He wrote a book called Whispering Bodies: A Roy Belkin Disaster. I'm looking forward to reading that one. To this day, I'm excited to hear about anything to do with Michaels. I feel as if he has a wholly authentic way of seeing and is able to express American culture in such a non-conceited fashion that it becomes valuable. Unlike money-prosperity, the bounty of his art attains a grace unto itself. Endeavouring to live up to the kind of impression he leaves with his songs makes me feel unafraid of dying. If you're looking for heart strength; what we refer to in Australia as ticker, you could do a lot worse than to unearth the best art of Jesse Michaels.
