Reticulation is a technique by which net-like or wave-like textures are produced on alloys of silver and copper by repeatedly heating the metal sheet until thin layers of pure silver form on the surfaces . Next , the metal is reheated to a temperature which melts the alloy best, but since the pure silver layers have a higher melting point they slump into the molten layer between them in interesting patterns .
