Antique GSJ Silver best Mesh Wristlet Purse German Weldmesh

This interesting little GSJ silver mesh purse has an interesting shape, unusual among mesh purses. It's rather long and narrow and I wonder if it was used to carry a lorgnette. It was obviously well-loved because someone mended it where it meets the frame at some point. See photo. It is so pretty and dainty, with repousse decoration and a small sapphire colored stone on the kiss lock catch, which opens and closes beautifully. The wrist strap of woven metal has two sliders on it which also feature repousse decoration. Inside the frame it is marked Weldmesh Germany and best Alpacca, which is the word to describe nickel silver in Germany. It is also marked GSJ. So much detail on this little purse make it a treasure, particularly given its unusual shape. The purse is 5.5” long from top to bottom with a 4” long wrist strap. It's only 1.5” wide at the top and spreads to 2” by the bottom. Sold as is. Beautiful display item.
