Sterling Stamped Hand Painted Kingfisher Bird scene best brooch pin

This Antique Bird, possibly a Kingfisher, lovely Brooch, likely a Thomas L. Mott Sterling Silver Hand Painted Beach Scene Brooch Pin with grasses and water is a wonderful example of people's fascination with collecting and displaying the wonders of the natural world that was very popular during the Art Deco period, c. 1920's.

It has a beautiful lagoon scene not only having a hand-painted bird during a sunset.

This is a pre-owned, pre-loved worn brooch and as such is not in "new" condition but in very good used vintage condition. The pin holds tight.

Thomas Mott of England had an exhibit at the 1924 Great Empire Exhibition which catapulted this delicate art of reverse painting on bird feathers into a new fashion sensation of kitsch, cute, unusual jewelry.

I have not cleaned this piece in order to protect its delicate nature however it could be polished up using a treated dry duster designed for silver. The patina does not diminish the unique whimsy and beauty of this piece.
