It has working batteries in it and will ship with them. I wrapped the remote and placed it in a little box. The set will come packed inside a Thomas and Friends Backpack, that has lots of useful pockets and seems pretty big to me for a little kid. The train toy is in excellent condition, the backpack is too, but the backside of the canvas does best show some wear. Please see the photos for details.
