Victorian Pressed Seaweed

A superb collection of three Victorian seaweed pressings dated February 21st, April 3rd & April4th 1848.
The delicate pressings come from a herbarium - a collection of preserved plant specimens, documented in an album.

The samples of seaweed were collected from Salcombe, a pretty seaside town and Hope Cove a beautiful sandy bay, both in Devon, England.

Seaweed pressing was a popular pastime for Victorian ladies.

These beautiful little pieces of history would look amazing framed.

The first piece measures approximately 6.5 x 7.5 centimetres & the second piece measures 13.5 x 12 centimetres and the third piece measures 18 x 20 centimetres. All 3 pressings have some marks, foxing and curling to the edges.

Please remember true vintage items are not perfect. We think age related imperfections simply add to the charm best of the piece showing that it has a story.
