A very nice engraving of "The Spirit of the Komachi Cherry Tree" by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi from his series 36 New Forms of Ghosts including an engraved nameplate featuring the story of the Komachi Cherry Tree.

The 36 Ghosts series was the last great work of renowned artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, several prints in the series actually being published after his death in 1892. The series features depictions of famous legends and folktales of the era and captures his talent for depicting the best beauty of the macabre and sublime.
