Product Name: Vintage 1960 best French Steel Knives, Midcentury Modern Cutlery time capsule, unused
Vintage All Stainless Steel Midcentury Modern Art Designed and Crafted French Knife Set of 6 Knives New in Box, mint unused set. Each knife is 9” long (serrated blade is 5” and hand crafted handle is 4”). The blade is not razor sharp, more like medium sharp for average foods and meats, but will do fine for steak. The handle has three grommets that attach two hollow pieces of steel (you can see the seam on the side, which is hand finished). The middle grommet has four “dimples” around it, most likely from a grip machine that was tightened to a strength to make even dimples on all of these knives as a form of artistic individuality (these are not random dents). At the handles' ends there are also dimples, but smaller. The grommets are nicely sanded, but when you run your finger over them, you notice different degrees of smoothness, indicating hand finishing. I like this simple, streamlined style, very typical of best the clean Midcentury Modern look of simple, easy-on-the-eye straight lines.
